Race Postmortem--Creating a Self Critical Analysis of Your Event

Updated: Mar 27, 2022

Once you’re event is over my guess (and hope) is that you’re exhausted but satisfied with your event but even more thrilled you don’t need to think about it for another year. :) However, before you stuff your race folders into the back of the closet it is super important to the continuing success of your event to set aside just one hour while everything is still fresh in your mind and answer just 2 questions. You don’t need to do this on the very day of your event is over (as you’ll probably be asleep by the time you pull into your driveway) but I do suggest you do it no later than 1-2 days after your race. If you don’t, you’ll be quite shocked at how quickly the details of your event (the good, the bad and the ugly) will fade from your memory.

You need to ask yourself two questions: 1. What did not go well? 2. How could we improve next year’s event?

Next week we will talk about answering these two questions.
